Around 9 p.m. Friday, the violin was stolen from a passenger on a Blue Line train at the Clark and Lake station, police said in a community alert. The violin was inside a black storage case when it was stolen. The instrument does not have a serial number since it was custom made, but it does have a distinct wood-grain finish on the back, police said.
