Biography

Joel Dreyfuss is a freelance journalist and author. He writes frequently about technology and venture capital for CNBC. He is a former Global Opinions Contributing Columnist for The Washington Post, based in Paris. In a career that spans four decades, he has held numerous leadership positions as a journalist, including Senior Editor and Tokyo Bureau Chief of Fortune magazine, Editor of PC Magazine, and Managing Editor of TheRoot.com. He has thrice been an editor-in-chief: at Information Week, Red Herring and Urban Box Office. Joel has been a reporter for the Washington Post, New York Bureau Chief of USA Today and a Senior Writer at Bloomberg Markets magazine. A native of Haiti, he grew up in New York, Paris and Monrovia, Liberia. He is co-author, with Charles Lawrence III, of “The Bakke Case: The Politics of Inequality.” He is currently writing a book about his family’s 300-year involvement with Haiti.
