De afgelopen jaren zijn we overspoeld met de ‘over-ear’ wireless noise cancelling en de in-ear ’true wireless’ headphones, met name bedoeld om “onderweg” te gebruiken. Audio-professionals en hifi-liefhebbers zoeken meestal iets anders: veel van de mogelijkheden van deze hoofdtelefoons make de geluidskwaliteit niet beter – en zijn eigenlijk ook meer bedoeld als achtergrondmuziek in plaats van gefocust luisteren.
By Johan De Groot, Johan de Groot| avblog.nl@ TIDAL stopt 24 juli 2024 met het MQA formaat en Sony’s 360 Reality Audio, en zet alles om naar FLAC. Tidal – de muziek-streaming dienst met name bekend voor haar hoge kwaliteit audio – heeft aangekondigd dat het zijn MQA-streams gaat vervangen door FLAC-versies. Begin vorig jaar is TIDAL gestart met FLAC, en nu wordt dat dus de standaard voor stereo-audio. Voor surround audio stappen ze over van 360 Reality Audio naar Dolby Atmos.
