Biography
I am the Deputy Executive Director of Living Laudato Si Philippines (LLS), a Philippine NGO campaigning for the divestment of major financial institutions from fossil fuels and the empowerment of citizens for lifestyle and attitudinal shifts appropriate for addressing the climate crisis and environmental degradation. I am also the Program Manager of Climate Action for Sustainability Initiative (KASALI), a Philippine NGO working for inclusive, sustainable, and progressive climate action. I currently serve in the Secretariat of Aksyon Klima Pilipinas, the Philippines's largest civil society network for climate action. I have represented the Philippine civil society in numerous global and regional UN climate conferences since 2017. I also represented the Philippines in the 2016 UNESCO World Heritage Committee meeting and the accompanying youth forum, focusing on natural heritage conservation amidst climate change impacts. I am a member of global and regional networks, such as YOUNGO, UNEP MGCY, and the Asia Climate Change Consortium. I finished my MS Atmospheric Science degree from the Ateneo de Manila University in December 2018 and previously served as a graduate researcher at the Manila Observatory from 2014 to 2018, focusing on Philippine rainfall and temperature projections and urban aerosol dynamics. I am one of the co-authors of the 2016 Philippine Climate Change Assessment Report: Physical Science Basis, the local equivalent to the IPCC reports. I am also a citizen journalist focusing on climate change and environmental stories not frequently told by mainstream media, which is a problem in the Philippines. My articles have been published on various international and local platforms, including The Huffington Post, Asia Sentinel, Rappler PH, and The Manila Times. I am a two-time fellow of Climate Tracker, the world's largest youth-led climate journalism network.
I do not write for Vancouver Magazine
