Mayor Larry Dunaway said Monday that a manufacturer is negotiating with Phoenix Investors of Milwaukee, Wisc., to purchase the property. Phoenix bought the former Husqvarna facilities in Nashville last year following the announcement that the local operation would be closed.

Economic Development Director Vanessa Weeks said Howard County has been re-certified as an Arkansas Act Work Ready County. “We’re the first in the area to be re-certified,” she said. The designation reflects a qualified workforce in the county that will be prepared for future employers. Weeks will become a member of the Arkansas Economic Developers and Chamber Executives.
