I usually look left to take in the view of the White House and the bold yellow concrete monument of Black Lives Matter Plaza. But on this day, my view was blocked by dump trucks and other equipment. The normal sounds of traffic were interrupted by the urgent staccato of jackhammers. The process of erasing BLM Plaza was underway. On my return to the office, I went to see the destruction with my own eyes.
