To add a little context, that game took place a decade before the Civil Rights Act of 1957, which gave Black Americans the right to vote – and little else. Each year, on April 15, Major League baseball players take the field wearing No. 42, Robinson’s number. Because of how the Rocket’s print schedule fell, this is as close as I could get to the day.
