Biography

Darling is the education report in the Inland Empire for Southern California News Group. She covers K-12 education and higher education in San Bernardino and Riverside Counties. Prior to this she covered cities in San Bernardino County focused on local politics, education, transportation, and development. Recently a majority of her work has been focused on the culture wars happening in local school boards. Particularly the parent notification policy which was introduced by the Chino Valley Unified School District. Darling was a part of the Foot in the Door Fellowship with the Los Angeles Press Club in 2023. From January 2021 to October 2022 she was the editor for Duncan and McIntosh Publishing Co. I ran the bi-weekly newspaper the Log as well as the bi-monthly magazine Sea. The Log covers local news from Ensenada to Santa Barbara touching on everything from Harbor politics to climate change and its effect on the boating and fishing communities. Sea Magazine was a boating magazine that has been in circulation since 1908. Sea promoted new boats in the industry and runs feature pieces that center on boaters and their adventures. Darling wrote a freelance column for cryptocurrency company, Cypher Core from 2017 until 2021. She wrote monthly updates on crypto and block chain projects and their connections in the crypto community. Darling is a graduate of California State University, Dominguez Hills, where she received a Bachelor's in journalism in May of 2020. During her time at Dominguez, she served as the editor-in-chief of the student-run paper the Bulletin. She led a 20-person staff to put out biweekly issues. Darling received two awards one for leadership award from the Communications Department and best newspaper column in the state from the California College Media Association. She also received third place from CCMA in 2021, and three awards from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association. Darling interned at Random Lengths News based in San Pedro in 2020. She wrote and published four articles focuses on local politics, climate change, Alzheimer's, and COVID.
