Harvard University professor emeritus, Dr. Jorge Dominguez, held the position of Antonio Madero Professor for the Study of Mexico from 2006 to 2018. A professor for over 45 years, he taught graduate and undergraduate courses. Dr. Jorge Dominguez covered topics such as Latin American politics and taught within the College’s ”Core Curriculum" and "General Education" programs. From 1996 to 2006, Dr. Jorge Dominguez served as Clarence Dillon Professor of International Affairs and was director of the institution’s Center for International Affairs. He combined academic leadership with program expansion and IT modernization efforts. He also spearheaded the raising of $21 million for the center’s endowment. Subsequently, the center came to be known as the Weatherhead Center for International Affairs. In addition, for almost 14 years, Dr. Dominguez chaired the Harvard Academy for International and Area Studies and guided the annual selection of several Harvard Academy Scholars. Highly published in his field, he is particularly known for his work on Cuba.
