Joseph Angelo is a Filipino private chef, food journalist, and lifestyle editor based in the Philippines. He was a global contributing editor at Condé Nast Traveler and one of the editors-at-large at Epicurious. He completed his culinary training in New York City after graduating from the Institute for Culinary Arts–De La Salle in 2016. Mentored by Chef Andrew Carmellini, he worked the line at NoHo Hospitality Group’s Westlight, a 22nd-floor rooftop bar offering sweeping, 360-degree views of New York City atop The William Vale Hotel. Joseph joined Condé Nast as an associate digital editor in 2019 and had been covering food, wine, and restaurant dining in Southeast Asia under an alias. Before joining Condé Nast, he contributed to HTSI – Financial Times, writing about the personal lives of chefs and personalities in the food industry. Now, he contributes once again to HTSI – Financial Times as a contributing editor, covering food, wine, and dining around Southeast Asia. In November 2021, he completed his Culinary Master’s in Gastronomic Innovation at Nebrija University in Málaga, Spain. In his free time, he enjoys petting local island dogs, savoring cookies at cafés, taking mirror selfies, and getting wine-buzzed with dear friends. After working as a private chef for select clientele in the Philippines, Joseph is currently on a break from the kitchen and focusing more on the magazine’s weekly column. With time spent in California, Massachusetts, New York, and Manila, Joseph brings a diverse background to his work. He now resides on Siargao Island, Philippines, best known for its surf and laid-back island life.
