By Josh Bootzin Verified, Josh Bootzin Sun| Yuma Sun Verified Since I arrived in Yuma nearly 14 months ago, I’ve heard various derogatory slogans describing Yuma: “That small town at the end of the river,” “boring stop between Phoenix and San Diego,” and worst of all, “Phoenix and Tucson’s forgotten little sibling.”For better or worse, Yuma no longer fits any of those descriptions. The Yuma region is growing at an absurd rate, with new subdivisions, industrial projects, economic development and population seemingly growing faster every day.
By Josh Bootzin Verified, Josh Bootzin Sun| Yuma Sun Verified Though Yuma is not hosting an official celebratory event marking the 250th anniversary of Paul Revere’s famous “midnight ride,” preparing instead for the U.S. Army’s 250th celebration in June, local government agencies are still doing their part this week. “This is just the beginning of the kickoff of America being 250 years old,” said Sarah Halligan, communications specialist at Yuma Crossing National Heritage Area.
