Catcher David Avitia went to the developmental list. The Cubs signed shortstop Corey Joyce and assigned him to Double-A Knoxville. Joyce was a 12th-round pick of the Tigers in 2019 and was released at the end of Spring Training. South Bend’s Cristian Hernandez was named Midwest League Player of the Week.
