By Frederick George Holweck, JRR Jokien Verified| Jokien with Tolkien@ One of my first big articles here at Jokien with Tolkien was my â10 Reasons The Lord of the Rings is a Christmas Movie.â Itâs still one of the most popular articles Iâve ever written and gets considerable traffic every year as the Christmas season approaches. Read it here! But though I treated the trilogy as a unit in my argument and tried to use reasons from all three books/films in my post, I must admit that thereâs a bit of a problem with the argument at its root.
By JRR Jokien Verified| Jokien with Tolkien@ There’s a scene from The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies that Peter Jackson left on the cutting room floor1 that I mulled over for weeks after I first saw it. Gandalf, Bilbo, and Bard are in a small pocket of calm in the midst of a battle. Gandalf tells Bard to send bowmen to a specific position and Bard replies that there are no more bowmen to send. The battle seems lost.
