Biography
Juan José Santos is an art critic, researcher and independent curator. PhD at UAM in Spain, with an international mention at PUCSP (Brazil). His doctoral work centers on alternative museums in Latin America. Since 2003, Juan José has contributed to newspapers and art magazines in the Americas and Europe, including Artforum, e-flux Criticism, Artnews, Art Review, Bomb Magazine, Spike Art Magazine, El País, Berlin Art Link, Momus, ArtNexus, or La Panera. He has curated over 30 exhibitions in countries such as Chile, Spain, México, Brazil, Bolivia, Argentina, Costa Rica or Honduras. The author of Volume I and II of Curaduría de Latinoamérica, published by Cendeac in 2018 and 2020, a book that compiles historical exhibitions in the continent, as well as Juicio al Postjuicio: para qué sirve la crítica de arte hoy, Gran Sur: arte chileno contemporáneo en la Colección Engel in 2020, which he co-edited with Christian Viveros-Fauné and Paula Solimano, he is also the founder and director of the art criticism platform Art on Trial.
