Bowie, Marion, Morris and Cass counties have issued state disaster declarations. While last weekend's storm knocked out power and downed trees, flooding caused the most significant damage, Cass County Judge Travis Ransom said. “This emergency declaration is a signal to the state to let them know we're really struggling out here in Northeast Texas,” said Ransom.

The county is now calling on a U.S. representative to step in and help. Little River County Judge Larry Cowling says a resident sent a complaint to the U.S. Corps of Engineers in Little Rock about drainage issues on French Creek. The Corps sent engineers to examine the problem.
