By Justin Runberg Verified| Amery Free Press Verified Earth Day is approaching, and many in the area are celebrating it. I understand it is a big deal, considering Gaylord Nelson, who created it, is from the Clear Lake area. I enjoy the day and the environmental protections that it celebrates. I have been a lifelong enjoyer of nature. I do this through many different ways such as fishing, hunting, swimming, and walking through the woods trying to find wildlife. I couldn’t imagine my life or passion for the outdoors being different.

Jump ahead to 2019, and there are nests in almost every corner of Wisconsin, especially down the Mississippi River. Bald Eagles were once considered an endangered species. Their recovery is thanks to conservation efforts that have seen them thrive even outside the state. This is largely due to the ban on the pesticide DDT and other protections handed down federally.
