  • ‘He would never ask:’ Emu’s viral jaunt down U.P. highway shines light on veteran’s need for help

By Justine Lofton Verified| MLive Verified SKANDIA, MI – An emu’s exciting day running alongside a Michigan highway led to a viral video. And now, a call to support the veteran who cares for the giant bird. It all started on April 5, when Blue the Emu went for a little jaunt down U.S. 41 near Skandia in the Upper Peninsula. He made his way home later that day. The escapade was caught on video by John Waldo and shared by his wife, Amy Waldo, on social media. After it went viral, the Waldos knew they had to meet Blue and his owner, Aaron Prisk.
