Exactly once a year, during the summer, I email her to ask if she wants to have a parenting check-in. And for seven (yes, seven!) years, she’s graciously agreed. Am I a fellow parent or some kind of expert, you might ask? Not in the slightest! I’m just a former colleague (Sarah used to work at CJP) who has maintained a healthy curiosity about one woman’s journey as a single mother by choice.
