Karen is a freelance travel and food writer. Her career started when she helped create Sassy magazine at age 20. Three years later, she left to freelance and edit at most of the top women's magazines in the US. She created a show for MTV, produced for the Jon Stewart Show, launched a show at Oxygen Media, then helped create and edit Jane magazine. In 2006 she quit her job as deputy editor of SHOP Etc., put her belongings in storage, and embarked on the ongoing Trans-Americas Journey working road trip through the Americas - from the Arctic to Tierra del Fuego and everything in between.
