I started blogging after our family vacation to Paris in 2012, starting it to answer friends' questions about traveling well on a moderate budget. It gained a broader audience, and I've been writing at https://familytravelsonabudget.com ever since. I also write for https://www.gulfshores.com/blog/ and https://travelthesouthbloggers.com/travelthesouth-writers/. Topics I cover most often include: * Destination reviews * Cruise tips * Travel guides * Budget tips (for household, travel and life) * Product reviews My primary goal is to help families realize that they can afford vacations. More importantly, I think families need to take vacation to reconnect or to stay close. Family time and togetherness is one of our most precious commodities. Before I wrote about travel, I was a homeschooling mom. Our second son has a severe learning disorder and could not read until he was 12. Today, he is a thriving, junior in college. Going back further, I was a practicing attorney in Ohio. I prosecuted domestic violence offenders full-time, the first lawyer in Ohio to do so. I developed and implemented training programs for police departments, emergency room staff and family physicians to help them better understand domestic violence and the proper way to respond to it.
