Biography

Veteran writer, novelist and journalist. From the fanzine culture, I wrote extensively for the Liverpool FC zine 'Through The Wind and Rain' and now The Anfield Wrap and Anfield Index. In 2015 I worked as a freelance writer for The Times, filing Monday articles for 'The Game'. I also wrote NiBs and worked on Tiny Cascarino's column 'The Tony Awards'. I also host my own niche football website called Some Green Grass and a Ball which contains anything from the career of Carles Puyol to an interview with Nick Owen. I have written three books. Two novels-And What Do You Do and Falling Without Landing- and a football book, 'We're Everywhere, Us,' with Sachin Nakrani of The Guardian. I am also a 'Ripperologist' and wrote a series of articles entitled 'Ten Weeks in Whitechapel' about the 1888 murders. This has since become a narrated series voiced by experts in the field. I spoke at the 2017 East End Conference and am now the publicist for The Whitechapel Society. I'm a regular podcast guest on The Anfield Wrap, Anfield Index and Rippercast

There are times when Liverpool are not a good team. That sounds like an insane suggestion given the league table, but we were only one header from me just writing that 60 times and having done with it. There are times when Liverpool drift from relaxed and methodical to soporific and downright bad.

  • Liverpool & Manchester United Fans' Fight To Save Fan Culture

By Karl Coppack| The Anfield Wrap@ Why Liverpool and Manchester United fans must set rivalries aside to unite behind a common cause and fight together to protect fan culture…AT the end of the 1973 season, Bill Shankly went to The Kop to celebrate his third and final league title. As scarves flew over the hoardings, a policeman kicked one away. An astonished Shankly glared at him, picked it up and wrapped it around his sinewy neck.

  • Why Liverpool Must Drop The Drama This Week

By Karl Coppack, Karl Coppack's Column| The Anfield Wrap@ After a dramatic on-pitch start to the international break and more off-pitch turmoil in between, Liverpool must ensure a drama-free week…I HAVE a dream. More than anything I want the next two games to be drama free. Particularly the next one. Collectively, PSG and Wembley took it out of us all and the unpleasant stench of vapours that follow a poor patch clung onto many, colouring minds.
