Biography

I've been a journalist for nearly 20 years and I’ve been a manager about half of that time. I have served as an assignment editor in my most recent roles at the Chicago Tribune, the Naples (Fla.) Daily News and the Corpus Christi (Texas) Caller-Times. I’m a wife and mother of 7-year-old boy/ girl twins, Alexandria and Andrew, who thankfully share my aptitude for writing and language but not my inability to do math. They like to say: “Mommy writes the newspaper!” I also write fiction in my free time (so, roughly three times a year) and you could say I'm pop culture-obsessed. I'm one of those people who know the name of every actor and actress and the lyrics to every song, even though I can't sing to save my life (I've been known to overlook this limitation for the comedic enjoyment of karaoke-goers). I played competitive softball in high school and college but now can only coach my kids in T-Ball after breaking my back while rollerblading when I was 21. I've had to have multiple fusion surgeries throughout the years and prefer remote work as a result.
