Biography

After a freelance career in the 1990s covering everything from snack food trends to operating room purchasing issues, and profiling medical students with unique backgrounds, I switched careers and became a high school English teacher. Throughout the first two decades of the 2000s, I earned a doctorate in education policy and worked in multiple areas of the K12 and higher ed systems. Now I'm tapping into that experience to restart my journalism career, this time focusing on solutions journalism. Deep subject-area knowledge in K12 education. Other interests: Long-term care. Public assistance access barriers. Women's health and well-being. I also write outside the journalism world on a contract basis, e.g., policy briefs, reports, web content, one-pagers.
