  • Letter: Re: the Feb. 20. article “Letter: Unions, not the NRA are "Buying" Politicians”

By Kathryn Baron| Arizona Daily Star Verified The letter writer's source of information must be Fox News. If he would do a simple Google Search he would find out “$Bs to an African country to pay for condoms” was $50m for condoms to stop the spread of aids in Africa (USAID 2022 report). “$Bs to pay for sex changes in a Central American country” is a $2 million grant to a Guatemalan LGBTQ+ rights organization to deliver gender-affirming health care with $359,000 allocated (Snopes Fact Check Feb. 12, 2025).

  • Letter: Re: The Last Four Years

By Kathryn Baron| Arizona Daily Star Verified No, I was not asleep during the last four years. I was enjoying the calm leadership of the Biden years. Your claim that "$50 million going to Gaza for condoms" was frozen. Then Trump went further stating “We identified and stopped $50 million being sent to Gaza to buy condoms for Hamas." "They’ve used them as a method of making bombs.” Really? In reality the U.S. has a program, President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief, which distributes condoms but not to Hamas.
