Born Feb. 2, 1936, in Fredericksburg, Va., she was the daughter of the late Marmaduke Dent and Christine Courtney Monroe. She was also predeceased by her siblings, Betty Zelloe and Melvin Monroe; and a granddaughter, Angela Lynn Harper. Joan was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She enjoyed bowling, shopping and gardening.
