Mitchelstown Ballygiblin Juvenile Committee and St Fanahan’s Camogie Club set up the iDonate page in aid of Kilbehenny local, Claire Downey-Smith, a science and maths teacher at Coláiste Fionnchua in Mitchelstown, who was recently diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease, a life-limiting condition.

The Avondhu newspaper was established in 1978, covering the areas of North East Cork, West Waterford, South Limerick and South Tipperary. A ‘paid for' title, with offices in the towns of Mitchelstown (primary) and Fermoy, this successful weekly - published Thursday's - boasts a readership in excess of 39,000 (print alone). The first edition was a modest 4-page edition, which has since grown to an average of 80 pages.
