The incident took place on Northcote Rd in the Christchurch suburb of Northcote. Multiple armed police and vehicles could be seen surrounding the address at about 10am. A drug sniffer dog was also led onto the property. One person was taken into a police vehicle in handcuffs.

The incident, on Nuffield Ave in Marewa, was reported to police at 9pm on Friday. Emergency services rushed to the scene, where one person was found in critical condition. “Efforts to resuscitate the man were unsuccessful and he died at the scene,” said a police spokesperson. The road was blocked overnight but has since reopened. The Serious Crash Unit conducted a scene examination. Inquiries are ongoing.
