Biography
Katya Cengel has written about everything from retired dancing bears in Bulgaria to the world’s largest machine gun shoot in Kentucky. Her work has appeared in The Wall Street Journal, Marie Claire, Esquire, Salon and Condé Nast Traveller. Shelf Awareness rated her University of Nebraska Press book “Bluegrass Baseball: A Year in the Minor League Life” one of the top ten non-fiction books of 2012. Cengel is working on a memoir about reporting from Ukraine in the run-up to the Orange Revolution. She spent eight years reporting for the Louisville Courier-Journal in Kentucky and now reports from around the world and teaches writing at U.C. Berkeley Extension. Katyacengel.com
