Biography
Hi there, my name is Kayla Nelsen. As a reporter at The Great Lakes Echo, I produce environmental news content for a regional audience, using my journalism skills and my environmental studies and sustainability degree from Michigan State University. You can read my stories here: https://greatlakesecho.org/?s=kayla+nelsen I also work as a media intern at Camp Arcadia, a nonprofit organization that offers retreats and programs for families and individuals. I write interest pieces, organize E-newsletters, and create social media posts to promote the camp's brand and values. I also contribute to the recruitment campaign for the Summer Staff 2024, using my skills in branding and advertising. My passion for environmental journalism and nonprofit work stems from my values of community engagement and health. I have a background in serving at Camp Arcadia's kitchen as the head server, and I have reported on business and environmental topics for The State News, MSU's student newspaper. I am always eager to learn new skills and explore new opportunities in the media and environmental fields. Feel free to reach out to me at kaylanelsen02@gmail.com!
