By Keith Kohn| Elko Daily Free Press Verified ELKO — A very brief initial report filed with the Federal Aviation Administration of a small-plane crash on Monday morning noted the single-engine ultralight "aircraft crashed under unknown circumstances" and the single person onboard, the pilot, received "serious" injuries. The small plane crashed on takeoff just after 10 a.m. in the yard outside Franklyn Building Supplies on Monday and came to rest upside-down abutting a large trash bin just across from the Elko Regional Airport.
By Keith Kohn| Elko Daily Free Press Verified ELKO — A small airplane crashed in a lumber yard shortly after taking off from a runway parallel to Idaho Street on Monday morning, authorities said. The pilot, who was not identified by authorities, received minor injuries but was awake and aware when he was rushed to Northeastern Nevada Regional Hospital, according to police Lt. Shane Daz, who was among the first responders to converge at Franklyn Building Supplies, where the ultralight aircraft went down and crashed into a large garbage bin.
