The Charleston Police Department said in a press release that the checkpoints will take place on Friday in the area of MacCorkle Avenue and Rt. 119. They begin at 6 p.m. and end around midnight. This is in conjunction with the Governor’s Highway Safety Program, with the purpose of reducing “criminal and traffic activities in the surrounding areas.”
