Biography

My career exposes me to all facets of the food & wine industry. As a writer, I have written for both national and regional publications as well as editing an online food and wine magazine. This includes a best-selling cookbook for Perseus, a popular series of wine trade articles for Daily Beast, a series of winery features for a regional Philadelphia magazine, and am the wine critic for another popular Philadelphia magazine. As the founder of both the Wine School and the Beer School, I have developed educational programming for sommeliers, wine enthusiasts, and universities. My classes have been taught at Drexel University, UPenn, and the Restaurant School. My students are now winemakers in New Zealand, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Napa Valley, Texas, and the central coast of California. My students have also become sommeliers, restaurateurs, wine distributors, and wine shop owners. Running the the day to day operations at the WIne School is my utmost priority. Through this job, I have acquired a solid knowledge of several branches of law, including liquor law, ip law, and education law. I have also developed miscellaneous skills as graphic and web design, LAMP computer coding, and communication design. I am a seasoned winemaker with several projects in Italy and California, including work with several well-known retail chains to create control brands as well as boutique winery brands. As a winemaker, I no longer take any additional clients without annual contracts. As a sommelier and wine buyer, I design successful wine programs for wine shops, restaurants, and online wine clubs. I can consistently judge wines that will eventually rate 90+ in Wine Advocate and Wine Spectator. This skill has helped the bottom line for many clients and companies.

With that star, Dušan becomes the first alumnus of the Wine School to reach such a milestone. But his path to international acclaim began, quietly enough, in a classroom in Philadelphia.

  • Wine School of Philadelphia

By Keith Wallace| After Wine School@ In this article, I cover all the hidden information on the wine label. If you want more information on wine terms on the labels, we have an entire Glossary of Wine Terms. Enjoy! What’s the most prominent text on the front label? Always put your best foot forward, right? The biggest text is what the winery is most proud of. It will be one of three things: the region in which the grapes are grown, the name of the winery, or a fantasy name. Which it is will tell you a lot about the wine.
