The historic milestone will help make upgrades to every school in the district. Leaders say the bond passing is years overdue, but are grateful for the community’s investment in the district. The $474 million bond passed with 85% of Tuesday’s votes. It means the district will finally be able to tackle years of deferred maintenance.

According to city officials, in 2024, there was a total of 12 domestic violence homicides for the year. So far this year, there have already been 12. “These tragedies are not just numbers; they are lives lost, they are homes broken, and they are trauma that ripples through our entire community,” said Mayor Pro Tem Ryana Parks-Shaw.
