The publication aims to keep the state's business decision makers informed about the stories important to them. Missouri Business Alert is a property of the University of Missouri School of Journalism. It is managed by professionals and staffed by university students. The publication was founded in January 2012 by Randall Smith, the Donald W. Reynolds Endowed Chair in Business Journalism at the University of Missouri. Smith is Editor-in-Chief of the site, which officially launched in July 2013. In order to avoid perceived or real conflicts of interest, the news and advertising operations of Missouri Business Alert are maintained as separate operations. Our goal is complete transparency; our success will be credibility with the public.
