Biography
Born and raised in South Carolina, I have been a reporter since 2016. I began my journalism career at The Newberry Observer where I held that role until 2020. In the fall of 2020, I began working at The Clinton Chronicle where I reported and handled graphic design. I joined the Index-Journal in Greenwood, SC in 2022 where I was employed until 2024. In this role, I primarily covered public safety and courts along with general news stories. In 2024, I returned to The Newberry Observer where I currenlty serve as News Editor. In my free time, I enjoy watching scary movies, the New England Patriots, reading, and of course writing.

By Kelly Duncan| The Newberry Observer Verified NEWBERRY — The third reading for an ordinance which would approve terms of an intergovernmental agreement between Newberry County and the Newberry County Water and Sewer Authority was tabled to the November 6 meeting to allow Council make to revisions to the ordinance after hearing from the community during last week’s Council Meeting.
By Kelly Duncan| The Index-Journal Verified Be fruitful and multiply – a phrase often used in reference to biblical teachings, but can also be used to describe the dozens of cat colonies across Greenwood County. “When one colony explodes, cats start pushing out,” said Meg Jennings, owner of Back Step Strays, a nonprofit organization in Ware Shoals that works to end pet overpopulation and suffering of abandoned and stray cats and dogs. Part of what Back Step Strays does is what Jennings called a barn cat program.
