Biography

I am a creative and educator born in Wales and raised in both New Zealand and the UK. Educated in the visual arts I later turned to writing composing books and contributing to print and online media mainly in the field of lifestyle (Global Blue), travel (Escape Artist) and music (All Music Guide). I am an all round creative skilled in: design, photography and content as well as editing skills in words and pictures. In addition I’ve run a parallel career in education often teaching in trouble spots (China/Taiwan/Georgia). I've since taught in Asia, Europe, and now Africa. I have visited over 60 countries on five continents, taken over 100 flights and stayed everywhere from hotels to airport floors in over 20 years travelling. I live and work globally.

By Kelvin Hayes| China Daily Verified It's lauded as one of China's most beautiful cities and a magnet for tourists. What's brought me here is an insatiable burst of curiosity. Being Welsh and having been raised in New Zealand, Xiamen has been nagging me to see it for some time. It is, you see, twinned with both Cardiff in Wales and Wellington in New Zealand - both cities in which I have lived. According to the traveler's grapevine I should love it. All three cities are ports.
