Ken Paulson is a journalist and the director of the Free Speech Center at Middle Tennessee State University, where he is also a professor and dean emeritus. That’s not a surprise; it’s also the First Amendment freedom that most of us use every day and all day. Like the other guarantees in the Bill of Rights, our right to speak freely protects us from limits by the government. It does not, however, prevent rules limiting our speech in other settings.
