Biography

Kenneth Miller is an award-winning journalist whose work has appeared in Time, Life, Rolling Stone, Mother Jones, Discover, Aeon, and many other publications. He has reported from four continents on topics including science, medicine, criminal justice, and the environment. His book, "Mapping the Darkness: The Visionary Scientists Who Unlocked the Mysteries of Sleep" (Hachette, 2023) was a New York Times Editor's Choice. Currently a contributing editor for Discover, Ken has served as West Coast editor of Reader’s Digest, a senior editor at People, and a staff writer at Life. He was also a senior writer for Our Times: The Illustrated History of the 20th Century (Turner Books, 1995). His honors include the John Bartlett Martin Award for Public Interest Magazine Journalism, the ASJA's Outstanding Article award for science writing and June Roth Award for medical writing, and the Wilbur Award for Religious Reporting. Ken has a master’s in journalism from Columbia University. He lives with his family in New York's Hudson Valley.
