Biography

I'm Kevin, a visual journalist working as often as I can in the blurred spaces between photography and video. While I regularly make video features and take photo assignments for newspapers here in Denver, my goal is to tell deeper stories in novel formats. This includes taking on projects meant for live installation, or digital stories that join still images, motion, and sound in custom web interfaces. I use my film school education and experience working in commercial production, web development, and graphic design to up the ante in my presentation. The hope for all this creative conceptualization is to do justice to the true stories that play out in front of my lens. I'm motivated by compassion and the thought that visual media can imbue that kind of empathy on an audience.

• How a weird little partridge ended up in Wash Park

  By Kevin Beaty Verified| Denverite Verified A few weeks ago, an unusual question popped up on Reddit:“Did someone lose a Partridge in Wash Park?”Attached was a photo, sure enough, of a very round little bird with black-striped feathers, a bold black band across its ping-pong ball head, and a curved orange beak. A few Redditors correctly identified the bird as a chukar partridge. Lots of people cracked “pear tree” jokes. We decided to investigate. The bird is not native to Colorado, but they do live here.
