(News 4 & Fox 11) — RENO, Nev. — A judge sentenced Christopher McDougal, 35, to 30 days in jail for hitting and killing federal judge Larry Hicks in a crosswalk last year. McDougal, who was driving a 2000 Ford Excursion with a lifted suspension, apologized to the victim's family before learning his fate. Hicks, a respected figure, served over 50 years in the legal community, most recently as a United States District Court judge. He was appointed by President George W. Bush in 2001.
