Kris Vera-Phillips is an Emmy Award-winning journalist with more than 14 years of experience producing news shows and special projects in the Sacramento, San Francisco, and San Diego news markets. She managed news content and live crews for nightly shows at KPBS News, the NPR and PBS station in San Diego. Kris is also a faculty associate and a Ph.D. student at the Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University. She teaches news producing classes and a multimedia bootcamp for master’s students. Her research explores race, identity, and representation in media.
