Biography

After receiving my journalism degree from the University of Texas in 1992, I began this amazing journey that has opened my eyes to one simple thing — everyone has a story. I have been blessed through the years to tell many of these stories. While I have always leaned toward sports coverage, which included a published book called Burned Orange and publishing my own monthly Austin-based sports magazine called Capital City Sports Report for more than four years, I have really enjoyed going outside of my comfort zone to learn and write about a variety of non-sports-related subjects. I have written for a wide array of publications, ranging from major metropolitan newspapers to unknown pubs in unknown industries. While I'd be lying if I said I had always dreamed of being a journalist growing up, I can't help but fondly reflect on my time in this business and be thankful it's the path I've chosen. It's undoubtedly been a circuitous trip with multiple entrepreneurial stops along the way. I'm currently a NASCAR writer for AthlonSports.com and host of the YouTube channel Beating and Banging.

  • Jamie McMurray Shuts Down Fans' Argument That Xfinity Series Racing Is Better Than Cup

By Kyle Dalton| Yardbarker Verified On Wednesday, Jamie McMurray, who is an analyst for Fox and The CW, appeared on SiriusXM NASCAR Radio and talked about the weekend’s races at Bristol and addressed the debate. “This car, the Gen 7 car, has struggled a little more on the short tracks, but honestly when I watched the Xfinity race, I know that everyone wants to say, ‘Well, those cars are way better.’ I don't agree with that,” McMurray said.
