When Lars Lonnroth first entered the journalism program at Lyons Township High School, it was love from the start. In addition to the classwork he was assigned for Journalistic writing--the precursor to the actual newspaper--Lars took it to the extreme, writing stories he wasn't even assigned to do. That's what Lars does. Once finding something he loves, he goes full throttle. Hosted the newscast he started for his high school radio station, WLTL, as a freshman. Got into print journalism as a Sophomore, and did whatever he deemed necessary to make his way to the top. That's what Lars does: he works.

It happened at the high school this morning in an area "restricted from students," according to an announcement shared with parents. The district says no one was hurt and there was no disruption to school activity.

Baronique Burton is charged with violating her oath by a public officer and unlawful acts of violence in a penal institution. While the arrest warrant does not accuse Burton of directly taking part in the beating of the inmates, it levels another accusation: She allowed the two inmates to be beaten.

On Friday, Jayveon Bivins learned his sentence in the killing of Michaela Chaney: life in prison without parole plus 20 years, Houston County District Attorney Eric Edwards confirmed to 13WMAZ.
