Gavin Newsom. Restricted travel along the iconic freeway has decreased revenue for businesses in Malibu and Pacific Palisades, leading to many residents and local businesses pleading for officials to reopen the roadway. Newsom said only one lane in each direction of the coastal highway will be open by the end of May.
