Digital Forensic Research Lab

The Digital Forensic Research Lab (DFRLab) is an organization within the Atlantic Council focused on studying and exposing disinformation while promoting transparency and digital resilience. It combines technical and policy expertise to tackle issues related to disinformation, technology, democracy, and digital rights. DFRLab's mission includes identifying and exposing falsehoods through open-source research, building a network of digital forensic analysts, and supporting democratic institutions against digital threats. Its initiatives include the Democracy + Tech Initiative, which aligns global stakeholders on technology and governance, and the Cyber Statecraft Initiative, which develops strategies for securing technology users. DFRLab also offers a Digital Sherlocks Training Program to empower individuals in combating disinformation. The lab utilizes various tools, such as the Foreign Interference Attribution Tracker, to monitor foreign interference in elections, and collaborates with government agencies, media outlets, and civil society organizations to promote accountability and integrity in information.
