Leeanne R. Hay is an award-winning freelance journalist based in Texas whose work has appeared in The Dallas Morning News, regional magazines, literary journals, and featured in podcasts. She is a graduate of Villanova University. While researching her book, NPE* A STORY GUIDE FOR UNEXPECTED DNA DISCOVERIES, she earned professional certificates from Florida State University, College of Social Work in Trauma & Resilience. In 2020, Hay’s story, "Hidden Measures", about a Black classical musician and his life’s passion to diversify the American orchestra through training excellence in underserved neighborhoods, was a nonfiction finalist at the 2020 Tucson Festival of Books Literary Awards. An excerpt was published by The Dallas Morning News. In 2016, her long-form narrative, "The Children Left Behind" about the children of opioid drug users won the TEN SPURS Award from the Mayborn School of Journalism National Nonfiction Literary Conference. It was published in 2017.
