The A303, which has since reopened, was shut between West Knoyle, in Wiltshire, and Bourton, in north Dorset, after the collision at about 23:00 BST on Monday. Officers were carrying out "complex investigation works", according to traffic management website Inrix.

National Highways said the A303 was shut both ways between Bourton and West Knoyle, in Wiltshire, after the collision at about 23:00 BST on Monday. The road is expected to remain closed for several hours on Tuesday, to allow Wiltshire Police to investigate. Wiltshire Police has been approached for comment.
