Biography
I'm the author of eight middle-grade and young adult novels, published by Abrams, Macmillan, Chronicle, and Simon & Schuster. My books have been translated into twelve foreign languages, have been optioned for stage and screen, and have received many starred reviews and state list nominations. I spent 12 years working full-time at Penguin, where I edited fiction and nonfiction for children and teenagers. I worked with critically-acclaimed and bestselling authors including Max Brallier, Gayle Forman, Viola Davis, Greg Pizzoli, and more. Now I'm living in Austin, TX, where I'm writing more books and essays, running an editorial consultancy called the Book Engineer, and speaking about writing and publishing.
