Author-journalist-blogger Leo Adam Biga is an Omaha native known for his writing-reporting on arts, culture, sports and social justice subjects. The 1982 University of Nebraska at Omaha graduate began his professional career in public relations in the arts and athletics arenas. Since 1989 he has made the bulk of his living as a freelance writer. He has been a regular contributing writer for numerous publications and media platforms, among them The Midlands Business Journal, The Jewish Press, Metro Magazine, The Reader, Omaha Magazine, El Perico, New Horizons, NOISE, Flatwater Free Press and American Theatre. He’s also written special projects for Temple Israel, The Tri-Faith Initiative, Latino Center of the Midlands, SHARE Omaha, Opera Omaha and NorthStar Foundation. He received an international journalism grant to make a 2015 reporting trip to Africa. His work has been recognized by his peers at the local, regional and national levels. He is the author of several nonfiction books, including Alexander Payne: His Journey in Film, Crossing Bridges: A Priest’s Uplifting Life Among the Downtrodden, Forever Grateful: The Gift of New Life from Organ Donation, and Triumph After Tragedy: How a Scrappy Battle-Scarred Refuge Insured His Own Success and Can Inspire Yours. He is currently working on a family narrative history, He plans to publish a collection of his Nebraska Stories in 2028, which will mark his 40th anniversary as a working journalist. When not engaged in writing projects, Biga convenes and moderates community-based events, teaches and does public speaking.
