By Lindsey Moon Verified, Tony Dehner, Lucius Pham, Maddy King Verified, Cece Mitchell| Iowa Public Radio Verified Mission Creek is its own kind of festival, perhaps one of the most unique in the country: it's a hidden gem that happens in some of the state's longest-running, independent music venues. The booking is some of the most thoughtful and introspective of our state's music events, and the entire weekend feels like an exercise in deep, intentional listening — with the party of the Iowa City Ped-mall thrown in the mix. We get introduced to the most new music of the year at Mission Creek.
By Lindsey Moon Verified| Iowa Public Radio Verified Mission Creek, the annual Iowa City fest among several downtown venues + Hancher Auditorium is upon us! On Thursday, the fest is entirely housed at Hancher, and then for the next two days it moves to the Ped Mall for shows at Gabe's, Riverside Theatre and The Englert Theatre. Now, this is also a literary festival. This is a story about the music. Follow more from our friends and colleagues at Talk of Iowa if you're a bookworm.

It combines the operations of several National Public Radio (NPR) member stations, including those affiliated with Iowa State University, the University of Iowa, and the University of Northern Iowa. The network also produces local content, particularly during weekends and evenings, and distributes podcasts like "From the Archives," which highlights historical material from its stations. IPR serves a diverse audience of approximately 236,000 listeners statewide, providing educational, cultural, and news content to both rural and urban communities.
